Jesus changed Peter’s name, but it took a longer journey to change his shape! Life is all about being shaped like Jesus. Life shapes us, but how does God’s word – the Bible shape us? Scripture was not written in a vacuum. God shaped the people whom he called to write his word. People like Peter.

Peter wrote both his letters from Rome around AD63-64 between Paul’s imprisonments. Nero was well established as Emperor. These letters pre-date Paul’s martyrdom in late AD64/5. Peter himself was martyred soon after.

In our Autumn evening series, we see Peter’s journey with Jesus, his experiences of church life, and the influences of the decadent Roman world all coming to bear on the rich tapestry of truth God gave him to write for our benefit.
