FFMC Web 2006 Version 0.1 |
|
The main vision and aim for this change has been to accomplish a few things: Make a site that is more visually attractive than the previous site, including many more pictures. Create a site that can be modified by a variety of people and not owned by one person. Primary focus on adults accessing the site as seekers or enquirers. Secondary focus on our church family and making information available to them. Get it ‘good enough’ for now.
What’s in Version 0.1Implemented a content management system (joomla) that allows any user with the correct permissions to make changes to the content, but not to the template of the site (how it looks). Implemented a document store capability where many types of files can be stored and downloaded. Content on the site can be limited to everyone or to ‘registered users’. Web site content (outside the document store) is structured into sections, categories and items. A number of sections have been created A number of categories have been created A number of items have been created

Next steps: Get people who are responsible for content to own it themselves – it’s easy honest! Agree with Julie a simple process for uploading Bulletins and Pastor’s Printout as PDF Make graphics templates available to others to modify and create their own. Expand ‘For Adults’ out into evergreen, 18-30, etc. Add a prayer item Add content for missions Add ‘personal’ bloging area Add podcast area Add newsletter/mass mail capabilities Look at the template to see whether it’s giving us everything we need. Anything else anyone can think of.
